Range using included antenna

Standing outside, on a road in the forest, I was able to get into a 2m amateur radio repeater almost 50km distant. I had to find a good spot and stay still, but my signal was reported to be clear.

I've also heard another repeater about the same distance away.

The thing works!

  1. I've actually used mine to hit a repeater around 50 miles (80km) away (as the crow flies) from the top of a very large hill in the UK.

I was absolutely amazed (as was the person who was about 30 miles south of it)

I use mine in the car a lot - I bought some "rats tails" from Deal Extreme and soldered on a PL259 so that I can connect it to my usual 70cm/2m antenna.
